Chris sold our Subaru in preparation for our trip, but we still see her every day. He was cleaning out the car to get ready to post it on Craigslist when our neighbor stopped by.
“How do you like your Subaru?” she asked.
“It’s treated us really well,” Chris said.
“My old Volvo just died so I’m thinking about buying one,” said the neighbor.
And the rest is history! Didn’t even have to post an ad. Some things are just meant to be, we suppose. When deciding whether to sell the car or not, here are the factors we considered:
- The age of the car
- The value of the car now versus a year later after it had been sitting for a year
- Cost and logistics of storing it
- The benefit of having a car when we got back versus the benefit of having cash now
